eBay resale after PandaBuy

eBay Spreadsheet: The Resale Maths for an Agent Haul, and the Rules PandaBuy Users Forget

Checked · the PandaBuy Alternatives desk

Short answer

eBay's standard US fees for most categories are a 13.6% final value fee on the whole sale, item plus the shipping you charge, plus $0.40 per order ($0.30 on orders of $10 or less). In our worked example, an item that cost $14.50 landed from an agent haul sells for $34.99 plus $5.99 shipping; eBay takes $5.97, postage costs $4.80, and $15.71 is left, about 38% of what the buyer paid. Break-even is about $16.81. Stick to reselling unbranded goods or your own label; anything else isn't yours to sell.

16 finds to price for resale

Work out each one's landed cost before deciding what to list. Each tile opens repbuysheet.com. We cap the grid at 16 finds so it loads quickly; behind it sit 10,000+ products.

Sponsored links. Photo, name and button all open one listing on repbuysheet.com, where the seller's full photo set, the size options and the source shop link live. Dollar and yuan prices are copied from that catalog on the check date and move with the exchange rate.

The resale maths, worked through

The example, line by line:

Reselling one item on eBay
Amount
Buyer pays (item + shipping)$40.98
eBay final value fee (13.6%)−$5.57
eBay per-order fee−$0.40
Your postage to the buyer−$4.80
Landed cost of the item−$14.50
Left for you$15.71

Fees from eBay's Seller Center and Taxomate (Jun 2026); example numbers computed on this page.

The landed cost is the number people get wrong. It should include the item, the agent's fees, the item's share of international freight and any duty, which is exactly what our haul template works out per row. Get it wrong by $5 and the profit above nearly halves.

Verdict: Resale works on margin you can measure. Know each item's landed cost before you list it.

What you can legally resell

The legal side matters more than the maths. eBay's VeRO programme lets rights owners have listings removed, and selling items that use someone else's trademark can get an account suspended or worse. The PandaBuy story itself began with brand owners' complaints. So:

  • Resell unbranded goods or your own label.
  • Use your own photos and honest descriptions.
  • Keep invoices from the agent showing what you paid.

Verdict: If it carries someone else's brand, don't resell it.

Dropshipping instead of holding stock

If you'd rather not hold stock at all, dropshipping sends each order straight from China to your customer. That's the service our homepage banner describes for creators and shop owners: you keep the customer and the price, we handle buying and shipping. The fee maths above still applies; only the postage line changes.

For sourcing at volume, the 1688 page works through wholesale pricing, and the shipping calculator estimates freight per kilo.

Verdict: Holding stock or dropshipping, the margin is set by landed cost and eBay's 13.6%.

Turning the haul template into a resale sheet

eBay also has its own 'spreadsheet' searches, mostly sellers looking for inventory and profit templates. Our haul template covers the buying side: landed cost per item. To turn it into a resale sheet, add three columns: your eBay price, the shipping you'll charge, and your postage. The profit formula is the one used in the worked example above: total charged × (1 − 13.6%) − $0.40 − postage − landed cost.

Three practical points for resellers coming from PandaBuy-era hauls:

  • Returns cost you: eBay buyers can return items, and you pay postage on returns in many cases, while you can't send the item back to China. Price that risk in.
  • Duty is a cost of goods: since the US ended the $800 allowance and the EU added €3 per category, duty belongs in landed cost.
  • Volume changes the maths: wholesale from 1688 lowers landed cost but raises the cash you tie up in stock.

Verdict: Add returns, duty and stock risk to the sheet before you call an item profitable.

Records to keep if you resell

Anyone who bought through PandaBuy to resell found that their order history vanished with the agent. If you resell now, keep your own records:

  • The original marketplace link and the yuan price of each item, with the exchange rate you paid. The haul template has columns for both.
  • Each item's share of freight and import tax, split by weight. Leave it out and your profit looks bigger than it is.
  • The eBay fees and postage on each sale, from your sales report.

Tax offices are also better informed than they were. Under the EU's DAC7 rules, and matching UK rules in force since January 2024, marketplaces such as eBay report sellers who pass 30 sales or roughly €2,000 in a calendar year. In the UK the first £1,000 of trading income is covered by the trading allowance; above that, profit needs declaring. Good records are what turn a turnover figure into a profit figure.

Verdict: Log the yuan price, freight share and fees for every item you sell. Platforms now report sellers to tax offices.

eBay resale questions

What are eBay's seller fees?

For most US categories eBay charges a 13.6% final value fee on the whole sale, meaning the item price plus whatever shipping you charge. On top comes $0.40 per order, or $0.30 when the order is $10 or less. On our $40.98 example sale that adds up to $5.97. Build both fees into your listing price from the start, not after the sale.

Is reselling agent finds on eBay profitable?

It can be, on unbranded items with a healthy margin. In our worked example, an item with a $14.50 landed cost sells for $40.98 including shipping; after eBay's fees and $4.80 postage, $15.71 is left, about 38% of what the buyer paid. Break-even sits near $16.81. Measure the landed cost accurately before listing, because a $5 error cuts that profit by about a third.

What is eBay VeRO?

VeRO stands for Verified Rights Owner, an eBay programme that lets brand and rights owners report listings and have them taken down. Repeated reports can lead to account suspension, and selling goods that use someone else's trademark carries legal risk beyond eBay. The PandaBuy story itself started with brand owners' complaints. Keep your listings to unbranded goods or your own label so VeRO never becomes your problem.

Can I resell branded items from an agent haul?

No, leave them out. Under eBay's VeRO programme rights owners can have listings removed, and sellers who keep listing trademarked goods risk suspension or worse. Brand complaints were what triggered the action against PandaBuy in the first place. Stick to unbranded products or your own label, take your own photos, and keep the agent's invoices showing what you paid for every item.

How do I work out landed cost?

Add four things for each item: the yuan price converted at the rate you paid, the agent's fees, the item's share of international freight split by weight, and its share of any duty. Since the US dropped its $800 allowance and the EU added €3 per category, duty belongs in that figure. The haul template does this per row, so fill it in before you set a price.

Was PandaBuy used for reselling?

Some buyers used it that way, and when PandaBuy disappeared their order history went with it. The brand complaints that led to the raid show why reselling branded goods is risky. If you resell agent finds now, keep your own records: the original link, the yuan price, each item's freight share and the 13.6% eBay fee on each sale. Treat unbranded stock as the only safe inventory.

Does eBay report my sales to the tax office?

In the EU and UK, yes, once you cross a threshold. Under DAC7, and the UK's matching rules in force since January 2024, platforms like eBay report sellers with 30 sales or roughly €2,000 in a calendar year. In the UK the first £1,000 of trading income falls under the trading allowance. Keep per-item records so the reported turnover can be matched to actual profit.

Should I keep the original Weidian link for items I resell?

Yes. The link records where the item came from and, with the yuan price and exchange rate beside it, what you actually paid. If the piece sells well you can reorder the same listing through any open agent rather than hunting for it again. PandaBuy users lost their order history overnight in 2024, so store the link in your own haul template.

Sources behind eBay

Put together by the PandaBuy Alternatives desk; every claim was checked against the list below on . The PandaBuy history leans on court records, police-side reporting and Wikipedia; agent fees, storage and review counts come from each agent's own pages or the named trackers. Where sources disagree we print both. A finds tile was only published if its main photo and its link showed the same item.
